33 square miles – that’s how small the town of Dulce in New Mexico is. There are only 2900 people there that call it home. So why is this tiny place steeped with conspiracy theories, tales of alien labs and strange goings on?
Each year, Dulce sees hundreds of UFO researchers and enthusiasts come into its surroundings, all eager to discuss and ultimately prove the existence of an alleged secret seven-story military base. The Dulce UFO conference will take place again in June 2022.
Rumours began to circulate in the mid-1970s when strange crafts were seen in the sky and cattle mutilations became more frequent in the local area. A State Trooper named Gabriel Valdez reported finding a dead cow that was heavily mutilated but had a foetus present in its stomach. What he found bizarre was that the foetus resembled a cross between a human, frog and monkey. He reported that the cow was clearly not attacked by another animal due to its very precise skin cuts. There were also items such as gloves, glow sticks and radar equipment left close by which Valdez also found strange.

In the years that followed, investigators began to run experiments in the area. In 1979, Physicist Paul Bennewitz claimed he found evidence of signals coming from deep within the ground in Dulce and from then on, the prospect of an underground alien base was born.
In 1990, John Lear, the son of the inventor of the LearJet and well-known pilot stated he had independent witnesses who could confirm the existence of a seven-story underground base. As he worked for the Government, people began to listen to what he was saying. Within the huge structure that reportedly goes down two miles below the Earth, each floor is allegedly designed for a specific area of extra-terrestrial research. Some speculate that representatives from the greys and reptilian species reside at the base, working alongside humans. The reputation of the sixth floor is the most widely feared as that is where human experimentation takes place and where screams can often be heard.
Alleged Base Structure
Floor 1 – Repairs, security and communication hub
Floor 2 – Craft Storage and human accommodation
Floor 3 – Offices
Floor 4 -Research on human aura, dream manipulation, hypnosis and telepathy
Floor 5 – Specimen collection and storage. Alien accommodation
Floor 6 – Genetic experiments
Floor 7 – Cryo-storage

Surprisingly its not the only reported base housing alien beings – there are allegedly 1477 bases in the world. Proof about Dulce was first publicly disclosed by Phil Schneider who claimed he worked at the site creating the tunnel system within Dulce base. He stated he became suspicious at the high level of military presence within the construction site but the true use of the base became clear when he found himself face-to-face with a seven foot tall grey. Shots were fired from both side and soon a full-on battle was underway in the base resulting in sixty seven deaths. Schneider claims he was one of only three survivors.
Schneider felt he needed to expose the base for what it really was and began a publication called ‘The Alien Digest’ which became extremely popular.

The co -author of the publication was found shot in the mouth in a park under suspicious circumstances. Three years later, Schneider himself, who had long since been telling people his life was at risk was also found dead. Initially it was recorded as a stroke but in an odd turn of events the case was re listed as suicide by strangulation with a rubber hose.
Thomas Costello then came forward to claim he had worked at the Dulce base as a security officer and backed up the claims made by Paul Schneider. He claimed that thousands of aliens called the base home and that they had been on Earth for thousands of years and were particularly interested in the magnetic properties of the planet. It is reported that Costello and his family mysteriously disappeared about a year after his claims first surfaced, however there are also many that believe he never existed in the first place.
Christa Tilton claims she was abducted and taken to the Dulce base. Under hypnosis, she was able to reveal many details about her experience there and also to draw the place where she was kept against her will.

Tilton claims she was abducted in 1988 by two small grey aliens and taken to the base. She was taken into a small craft and ended up on top of a ‘hill’ where her alien guide, a human-like entity, escorted her into a tunnel. Tilton remembers that human military soldiers were there, wearing red uniforms. She was taken to level 5 and placed in a gown on top of what looked like scales. Loud ear-piercing noises came from the machine and it lit up different colours.
Tilton was then escorted down a corridor into a room that she describes smelling like formaldehyde. She saw a number of large tanks but could not see what them was inside. A trained nurse by profession, Tilton found herself in a medical room with a large table in the centre which she was told to get on. A human ‘doctor’ performed a number of tests and was assisted by a small grey alien. Recalling the event she said “I knew I was being examined internally and when I lifted my head, I saw this horrid grey alien glaring at me with large black eyes. It was then I felt a stabbing pain. I screamed and then the human doctor stood next to me and rubbed something over my stomach. It was cold. The pain immediately subsided.”
On the other side of the room she was in, Tilton observed what looked to be humans lined up behind a plastic-type see through wall. The figures had a waxy look to them. She also saw different types of animals in cases close by. During her time at the base she recalled meeting different alien races including a man named Maijan who informed her that he had links to the Aztec and Mayans.

We will probably never know what has or is happening in Dulce. Suffice to say the facility is no longer a secret to the wider public. However, even today there are multiple reported sightings in Dulce of strange lights, low flying military helicopters, and crafts in the night sky.
The story is certainly festooned with death and theories of government conspiracy. Could the base still be operating or could the whole thing be nothing more than an exaggerated story dating back many years? You decide.
