Let’s go back to October 1974 to a case that occurred in Aveley, Essex, UK.
The strange thing about this case is its involvement of an entire family, which is a rare occurrence when it comes to abductions. It was a normal evening and the family were returning home from visiting a relative nearby. They were all in the car, Mum (Elaine), Dad (John) and their three children Kevin, Karen and Stuart. They had left at 9:50pm as John had a television programme he wanted to watch that started at 10:20pm. They knew that this gave them ample time to drive back home (around nine miles). 7 year old Kevin was awake in the rear of the car whilst his siblings had drifted off to sleep.
Kevin noticed a blue oval light that appeared to be following their car. It suddenly darted in front of the car and then vanished. Shortly after, the family reported that a green fog enveloped the car, the radio started to smoke and all sound disappeared. It was now around 10pm. Once they had driven out of the fog, normality was resumed.
They arrived home and John stayed in the car, trying to fix the radio. Elaine put the children to bed and realised it was now 1am. Tired from the strange day, they didn’t put any significance to what had happened.
During the months that followed the family started to change, for example they turned vegetarian after finding that the smell of meat became unbearable. John, previously a heavy smoker, quit after many years. Sadly he suffered a mental breakdown and had to give up work. Kevin who had struggled at school suddenly began to improve on his reading skills. Coincidence? Well if you also add in the strange happenings at the family home maybe not.
Strange buzzing and clicking noises were heard around the house, objects appeared to disappear and the phone line had peculiar clunking noise to it. One of the children also described a man dressed as a clown who was stood next to his bed.
By the time 1977 came around, the family began to think they needed some answers about what had happened to them and contacted UFO researchers.
Andy Collins and Barry King began an investigation and recorded that since the event John and Elaine had been having vivid dreams about strange beings and operating theatres. Hypnosis revealed that the family car had been levitated aboard a craft via a beam of light. Bird like creatures, around 4ft tall then examined the family members. They recalled taller beings, which appeared to be in charge wearing a balaclava like cover to their faces and once piece space suits.
John recalled the taller beings having pink eyes and communicating via telepathy. He remembered them scanning his body with a large wand like object. The bird like creatures chirped he later remembered.
The aliens told John that they were not just visiting but had always been “here”. He was told when asking where they came from that there was no need to tell him as they were not returning home. He was also shown a map but was not able to understand what it represented.
John and Elaine would later separate, however John remains to this day confused by the events that took place that evening. He describes it as a truly life changing incident. When asked why he doesn’t do further work with UFO research he states that when he does, the strange and peculiar events start to happen around him and his family, preventing him to continue.
The researchers added credibility to the case by describing the family as “normal” and “warm”. They described John as an intelligent man with a good vocabulary and who was very creative. Elaine was much quieter in personality who had worked as an accountant before becoming a full time Mum. Both were described as “extremely creditable witnesses”.
In a review published in 1978 in Flying Saucer Review, Andy Collins wrote:
“Never before have we been able to present a fully documented account of an abduction, a car teleportation, and an important contact case all rolled into one…in Great Britain.” This is probably the most important British case ever.”
Andy also stopped over night at the family home whilst conducting his research and experienced loud banging coming from the kitchen in the middle of the night. This scared him and he didn’t move from under his covers, on the family couch. He described a number of strange sensations, starting at his feet and engulfing his whole body shortly after the noises. Initially being terrified then overwhelmed with peace and tranquility.
The case appears to tick all the boxes of an abduction encounter. Witnesses seem credible and the continued lifestyle changes and paranormal phenomenon that followed them gives credence to their account.
The case is still discussed within UFO community and there are masses of detailed information that came out as a result of the hypnosis session. Reports of the family experiencing other UFO sightings before the abduction experience also surfaced, which is not uncommon in such situations. The question has been asked many times… are they here already? Where and for how long?
