Sighting Investigation Report
Date: 21st July 2020
Time: 23:20
Location: Ipswich, Suffolk
Investigator: Ash Ellis
Case Reference: OR200701
Classification of Incident (Hynek System): Nocturnal lights
Description:Witness was observing the sky through a night-vision monocular when he noticed an extremely bright object moving from west to east, he observed the object, which moved at a constant speed and made no sound, until it disappeared over the housetops. The object was not as bright to the naked eye.
Conclusion:The initial description provided, and especially the direction and movement of travel, sounds like this could be the International Space Station making a pass over the witnesses location. Upon viewing the footage provided this seemed even more likely. I then confirmed this with the ISS Tracking website which as shown, shows that the ISS was over that location at that time. I’m happy this sighting can be identified as the International Space Station
