This is the case of Margaret Fry who on 17 July 1955 witnessed a UAP land close to her home in Bexley Heath, UK.

Margaret and her husband moved to the UK in 1947. The day of 17th July 1955 started off as a normal day as she set off on foot to her local GP surgery located in King Harold’s Way. Noticing a group of children playing in King Harold’s Way she was joined by Dr Thukarta who had come out of the surgery, located in the same area. It was just after 12 o’clock lunchtime, when suddenly an object appeared with three distinct spheres under its belly. Margaret stated it was a typical “saucer” shape with a blue/grey colour to it.
Right in front of all the witnesses, the craft descended and landed on the ground just next to the junction of Ashbourne and Whitfield Road. Children having a natural curiosity started to make their way towards the object. Just as they began to move, it lifted off the road, rising back into the sky and eventually out of sight.
The witnesses even all these years later have never forgotten what they experienced on that July day. Whilst no one has been able to track down the doctor, a witness named Rodney Maynard who was working at a local building site aged 15 at the time witnessed the entire event.

Rodney recalled that the saucer spanned the whole width of the road, even overlapping onto the pavement. He recalls the saucer having 8 “suckers” around it with an outer rim that was slowly spinning around. He also recalls flashes of light similar to a camera flash coming from the craft.
Rodney recalls trying to move towards it, which resulted in the rim spinning speed increasing stating “It had what looked like windows, but the glass was concave and moulded together so you could not see in.” It then lifted off slowly, tilting lightly and hovering above them before moving off. Rodney, and his brother who also witnessed the event, seldom talk about it for fear people will think them ‘barmy’.

Following her experience, Margaret became heavily involved with UFO research, she joined BUFORA and was the founding member of Contact International UK and the Welsh Fellowship of Independent Ufologists.
This case was witnessed by multiple people and people who didn’t believe in such things prior to seeing the craft land in Bexley Heath. So, was this a one off event for the area? Well, it appears not.
In 2004, in the exact location of the 1955 sighting, a 72 year old resident noted seeing three crafts in the sky above her house resembling “light bulbs.” They appeared to be almost dancing in formation together at speed through the sky and then vanished. Days later, on 18 September 2004, this time in King Harold’s Way, Dianne Taylor was sitting in her lounge when an eerie glow came through her windows early evening.
Interestingly, when Dianne was interviewed, she described seeing the craft that created the glow of light as being like a light bulb. Dianne’s daughter also witnessed the incident and saw the object through the lounge window. The object flew away at speed. Dianne’s husband also reported that UFO sightings were not uncommon in the area as he had previously experienced a red fire ball moving strangely through the sky some years earlier.
Moving forward to 2010, they sky was yet again home to strange phenomenon.
Deborah Perry reports thirty crafts in the sky above where she lives in Bexley Health. On 20 April 2010, she noticed bizarre shapes in the sky. With London City Airport not far away, Deborah was used to seeing passing air traffic but this evening something was different. Deborah reported no sound being present as a “formation” of crafts appeared in the sky, each displaying a white glow that was almost like a haze around the craft itself. She watched them move gracefully across the sky before vanishing out of sight.
On the 2nd May 2010 in the same area, a local resident Debbie Fitzgerald and her husband noticed a bright orange light in the sky hovering above their home. Quick as a flash a further red light appeared that was pulsating, again only to vanish out of sight before their eyes.
So why is Bexley Heath such a hot spot? Could its proximity to a busy airport be the answer of is there something more to it? Only time will tell.
